Why is Measure H “in danger” if the Taxpayer Protection Act makes the ballot? Because they sold it with specific uses when it was a general use measure, “for general goverment use,” like the pension deficit and the skating rink and the pallet shelters and the lawsuits, etc.

I was on the Butte County Grand Jury of 2012-2013 that called out city bureaucrats for giving us misleading information about the city’s CalPERS pension debt[https://www.chicoer.com/2013/06/29/grand-jury-blasts-city-of-chico-says-financial-information-was-misleading/].
Then it was $69 million and growing. What is it today? I still can’t believe the City Council gave Mark Sorensen 14 YEARS OF SERVICE CREDIT IN CALPERS (and a stack of other benies: [https://www.chicoer.com/2022/07/02/mark-sorensens-base-salary-to-be-207k/[) to give up his post in (what?) Biggs (!) to be Chico’s city manager. What a gullible gift of public funds that was!

Now there’s another good question for the Finance Clerk – I’m sorry I forgot to tell you there was a Finance Committee meeting last Wednesday. You want to attend with me next month? 8:30 am, no coffee, but wow, you can catch them off guard, ask some pokey question. Mau mau the Flakcatchers.

Thanks for reminding me about Sorensen’s sweet deal, I got so mad I deleted my first response!
