Come on Down! Chico Taxpayers Assoc. meeting, Sunday, Chico Library, 11:30am

2 Mar

Sue sent in an interesting comment yesterday – she said a member of the Chico Tea Party Patriots had been contacted by a survey company regarding Tom Lando’s sales tax increase proposal.

The recipient was apparently asked if he’d like to have a sports complex, and felt the questions were generally leading.

If anybody else gets a call like this, please let us know via this website. Try to take notes of exactly what is said, and try to give them as little information as possible, even if you just have to say, “I’d rather not answer that question, are there other questions you’d like to ask…”

Before you hang up, be sure to let them know, you won’t support a sales tax increase for ANY purpose, and that you’ve contacted your council and told them to demand a petition.

And be sure to send any communications you’ve sent or received regarding this matter to the blogsite here, and I’ll post it.

Hope to see you all at the Chico library, this Sunday morning, 11:30. We’ll have a news update and we’ll talk about our next steps. We’ll keep it rolling and be out of there by 12:30. Come on down!

Would you like a new building? Do you hate politicians? Would it bother you if your sales tax money went to pay for my pension like they tried to do in the City of Vallejo? Would it bother you if we misled you into believing that the tax was going towards those nice entities we’re advertising in which to gain your support? Does it bother you that we are conducting a survey that we will make sure supports our deception and plan without you even realizing it until it’s too late? If you say yes, we will let you hang out with us!!!

      You’re right, Rick.

Lando will promise the moon to get the Tommy Tax through.

He has talked of funding everything from a new baseball stadium, to more cops, to funding the library, to funding high school sports and much more.

I expect any day for him to throw in a pony and an ice cream for the prolls, and they are so ignorant and gullible they will probaby vote for the tax increase.

There’s no way a .75% sales tax will pay for this spending spree.

At a time when the city just lost RDA funding and has a pension mess on its hands and is in the hole, going on a spending spree is extremely irrepsonsible.

I really believe Lando is a public menace. He helped run the city finances into the ground and what is his reward? He retires at 55 with a 6 figure pension and healthcare benefits then starts a “consulting firm” and receives city contracts. I also understand the city paid for him to get an MBA from USC when he was a city employee.

And now he wants to saddle us with a permanent sales tax increase and more spending and debt.

He has done this community a great deal of harm, and it’s time people stopped letting him do more damage.

Amazingly, Enloe put him in charge of thier board of trustees. But I guess that makes sense because Enloe is a very dysfunctional organization.
