League of Women Voters, in a joint venture with Chico State University Office of Civic engagement and Chico Associated students, is holding a forum for US District 1 , currently represented by Doug Lamalfa. The Forum will be held at Chico State University in the Harlan Adams theater on Monday April 30th at 7 p.m.
Lamalfa has six Challengers. 5 will attend the Forum. They are Greg Cheadle, Republican , Audrey Denny, Democrat, Lewis Elbinger Green Party, Jessica Holcomb Democrat, Marty Walters Democrat, and David Peterson Democrat.
Neither Lamalfa nor Peterson will be in attendance, citing scheduling conflicts.
Frankly I think that’s great. Instead of standing there attacking Lamalfa, these people will actually have to talk among themselves, and maybe even discuss real issues.
Maybe the little pussy hat fascists will stay home.
The Forum will be videotaped and will be available on the Butte County website.

Sorry for any glitches or spelling errors I had to dictate this to my phone.
Scheduling conflict? That’s funny. The reason LaMalfa doesn’t go is because he knows there’s no need to go. He knows that seat is his for as long as he wants it, for life even. I can’t even remember the last time a challenger won that seat. In the last 38 years only 3 people held that seat: Chappy (were you happy with Chappy? remember that election slogan of his?), Herger and now LaMalfa and none of them were challengers as the seat was open when they first ran. Congress is like the old Soviet Union where the incumbents won 98% of the time in their sham elections.
For the candidates I do know about who are running against him, I wouldn’t vote for any of them. I will check the rest out but I will most likely do what I did last time and not vote for anyone. There are damn few people worth voting for and the ones who are typically don’t stand a chance of winning.
I feel same. I hate to admit I have lost my faith in Democracy. At least, on the national level.
I think part of the problem is the way we set up our legislature. These positions used to be more attainable for the public at large. It wasn’t a full-time job with all the salary and benefits because the sessions weren’t all-consuming, they didn’t blow thru so many crazy laws with ridiculous riders, too long for anybody to actually read.
The catch 22 is, how can we expect these people to change a system that benefits them?
Greg Cheadle, Republican
Hey, is that this guy???
Yes it is.
Ah geez…
I wonder if Trump will endorse him over LaMalfa?
Oh, good question!
