Road bond money could be allocated to other funds

29 Jun

Well, it seems David Little is out of town and Enterprise Record associate editors Steve Schoonover and his wife Laura Urseny have “lost” my latest letter to the editor.

The ER is what passes for journalism in our town, supposedly a “conservative” newspaper, and today they’re running a push piece about how great city finance manager Scott Dowell is for stealing a million dollars out of who knows where to pay down the employees’ pension deficit. Without one word about where the money came from.

There was no reporter at the Finance Committee meeting the other day, they get their information straight from Dowell and print whatever he tells them, without question.

Attend a Finance Committee meeting sometime and listen to Dowell describe the allocation process – there is no such thing as a budget. When city $taff overspends they just get another fund transfer.

The money from a road bond would be up for grabs to pay the pensions, just like all the other funds.

Write those letters.

It’s obvious the local bureaucrats and politicians will deceive, lie, cheat and steal money that should go to things like roads for city employee compensation, mostly pensions and raises. And then they have the nerve to demand tax increases.

It’s hard to believe the local media is either so incompetent, lazy or corrupt that they don’t report this, yet that is exactly what is happening.

And when someone like you points this out, they conveniently lose your letter. But maybe they really did lose it, although they sure didn’t manage to lose old Rene’s letter that demanded the voters not repeal all the recent tax increases.

We have to take them to the mat.

Maybe we should just ignore them and not contribute content. It’s getting embarrassing for them. At this point we are enabling them like Co-Dependents. Just forget about them. Then one night a year or two from now, you’ll call an Uber, and they’ll pull up and ask if you need a ride. They’ll seem happy, finally making an honest living.

Haha – Steve and Laura as taxi drivers – that’s funny!
        What’s that song – “I’ll walk 500 miles?”
