Well, the sewer rate discussion took a nasty turn when Bennett, who asked to be allowed to reconsider his ‘yes’ vote from a previous discussion, went with Winslow, Hawley and Goldstein, voting to shove the sewer rate increase right up people’s asses.
Yes, they expect the rest of us to foot the bill for their little pipedreams for Downtown. None of this money will show up in your older neighborhood, take good care of your septic tank. There are square miles of Chico that do not have any sewer to hook up too, having been annexed for the tax money but never hooked up with any city services. When they come after us, they’re going to want a lot of money.
My family tried to sell out of Chico, but the developers who looked at our property told us the Chico market is overbuilt already, and they are waiting for another “correction”. Like 2008?
A local contractor we know told us that the only money in building right now is in low income housing.
Mark Sorensen once reminded me that low income property takes that property out of the tax base. It turns into an expense instead of an asset. Think hard about that, and then take a look at what the city is permitting around Chico.
Nobody wants to explain to me why when we build more housing the price of homes AND rent just keeps going up.
Ann Seymore says in the letters section that compared to the bill for the war and the new ballroom, the sewer charges are just chump change. Does she even know what she’s talking about?
Here’s a good question for Bennett, Winslow, Hawley and Goldstein – what do they expect the sewer increase to do to rents in Chico?
Back to the coffee pot Bat Mom.
They keep building low income commie style housing yes but keep blocking single family home builds. Epic homes for example blocking over the “Fairy Shrimp” on Bruce Road. I am at the point that you can not fix stupid.
They are going to waiting a long time for a 2008 drop that is not going to happen especially with the potential opening of the airport for commercial aircraft soon too come that is going to drive not only the Bay area but Southern California.
It is only a matter of time. If they are so worried about the environment how about stopping the Geo Engineering that is negatively effecting every part of our Eco System and fueling these fires to burn 10x faster.
Of coarse they are more focused on “low income” they want the middle class to all leave Commifornia. Chico politicians on both side have zero clue what is really going on. It’s a popularity contest.
True Independence is lost. George Washington was the only president that won Independent. If only those moving to the US in droves only knew that they are voting for what they left.
DK-
Did you know, the property proposed for Valley’s Edge, has already approved for 20 acre home sites. Brouhard and his friends want a much higher density build, like the kind of crap you’re talking about. And it’s against the zoning that is already in place. The land west of the bike path, which Brouhard doesn’t own, has already been approved for 500 houses.
I just read a city report that said we’ve been paying millions for the last few years to get a carrier at the airport, and we’re nowhere near a deal. Why should the rest of us who don’t fly, subsidize an airport for people who want to go to Disneyland? Go to a meeting sometime. Chico is too close to Sacramento, and they’re already planning and paying for a rail line that will take people to the Sacramento Airport.
I’m sorry you’re upset, but you should do some homework before you make comments here.
