When you have a moment… read the article “Smells of Sewer” on TheChicoBeat.com—it is enlightening!

Thanks for coming over to the blog. I talked about this issue in Dec ’22, Jan ’23.

City of Chico wants to impose a new Sewer Tax – they’re not just raising rates, they’re “changing the process for sewer service charges”. Affected property owners have until January 17 to make written protest to City Council

The mailed ballot tactic needs to be illegal. When I contacted Howard Jarvis Association about this, they told me it was legal and the only way I could fight it was to get others to vote NO. The city gave us less than a month. Here’s the problem – Chicoans are poorly educated and are lazy and apathetic. I can say that because I’ve lived in this area all my life. This deal is a total screwing, yes, we pay twice for water that we get from Cal Water. And they can raise the rate anytime they want. I wish you had got ahold of me back in ’22, when the notices came out, we could have got signs and got people on board and beat it. Instead I sat on my blog fiddling for nobody.

      Your 4 meters are good
      – I have one meter for two units, that means, tier 1 is used up in about 4 days, and one leak or broken timer can result in a hundred dollar bonus for Cal Water. If I want a second meter I have to pay out the ass (ha ha, get it, out the ass!) So I just had to kill most of the landscaping and limit the tenants’ water usage – NO GARDENING, NO POOL, NO HOT TUB. What a nice little town we live in, eh? Want to do something about it? Find a candidate to take Kasey Reynold’s seat, a REAL CONSERVATIVE who gives a shit about our cost of living and the quality of our lives. For a change!

Good luck and keep me posted.

Juanita, water/sewer increases are a stinky way for your council to help cover unfunded pension deficit from overpaid CPD and other supposed leaders of Chico. The CPD can now use machine guns to kill civilians and proved it recently. The blank check given to the CPD every year with No accountability, stinks too.

Thanks Scott, a point to remember – there’s no accountability on the spending in the sewer fund. In fact, at one point, the city administration actually used the sewer fund to pay salaries and pensions, to the point of a major deficit. They can move their peas and walnuts any way they want.
