It’s not about pot it’s about property rights

7 Sep

When I read about warrant-less searches in Lake County, I realized what it is that bothers me about the Butte county marijuana ordinance, Measure A – I’m an American, and I believe in my rights to my property, to be safe and secure in my home. I realized, Larry Wahl’s marijuana ordinance is a step in the wrong direction.

The worst thing about Measure A, is that it goes beyond  encouraging fighting and court battles between neighbors, giving even strangers a harassment tool to hound people they don’t like for whatever reason. This really bothers me – complaints aren’t restricted to neighbors.  Wahl has claimed all along that he’s trying to help people who live next door to “egregious” grows – no, he’s trying to harass people who don’t agree with him out of Butte County. This isn’t just about marijuana, it’s about everything Wahl and his hip pocket stand for – unregulated development, wholesale logging of our forests, open door to PG&E and other utilities, lower regulations for fracking and mining, and more property tax revenues and other fees to pay salaries and pensions, including his own $58,000+ salary, down at the county.

I’m sick of these grabs. Somebody please tell Larry to read a book, I’d suggest “John Adams” by David McCullough.

Measure A is a power grab by Law Enforcement and Larry Wahl. In 2011 sheriff Jerry Smith in front of the BOS said that not even 5 million dollars would suppress marihuana in Butte County. Hum…..

Federal funds only cover 500 thousand dollars in suppression along with 500 thousand the local tax payer throughs in. ( I mean BOS).

So far this year there have been zero cartel busts. Why – because legitimate growers out number them. There have been 112 complaints all which have been covered by the current ordinance.

Measure B is the current ordinance in effect. Except for the last clause which prevents changes directly made by the BOS that have to be voted on by real voters.

Measure A will cost the tax payers (Huge),

Vote No on A Yes on Measure B. Let’s move into the feature. Protect your property rights.

(Also I call Larry Wahl out for a debate at the league of women’s voters). Call me anytime Larry you got my number!
I got more Real Facts and Figures i’d be happy to inform you.

Thanks, that’s what I figured – revenues. I realized one day what 215 has done to the sheriff’s budget.

This is a very old post but I have to add. I am also a non-pot user but in college I didn’t earn enough at my 2 jobs to pay the bills so I trimmed on the side when invited by a friend.

I heard many stories about raids and forfeitures. Big money was taken. $20k. $25k. $10k. Those are the ones I know of. And not all of those were legal savings I assume. But I wondered WHERE the forfeiture money goes.

Oddly, I checked city and county financial statements and could not find ANY reasonable Fines and Forfeitures line item. It is QUITE ABSURD. So I checked the federal forfeitures website – in search of forfeiture records. NADA.

So WHERE is the money from these raid forfeitures??? I asked one person I knew back then. He had $40k forfeited (his was personal cash, legal) and he never had any of it back. His crime? Too much weight in his legal grow. But WHERE did the $$$$$ go???!

On the Chico financial statement it says a high figure but that figure is the fund BALANCE not the yearly receipts. Other than that, good luck finding anything that makes sense. I told other friends about what is actually claimed. They LAUGHED and shook their heads.

Why don’t people fight publicly for their money? Would you want the public to know you keep that much cash in your home? I would absolutely not want people to know that.
