How much to just repair or refurbish the current pool?
    Shouldn’t that be an option?

thanks Jim, good questions. Last year they discussed the dismal shape those pools are in, I think the cost estimate for repair was just “millions.” I’m guessing it was less than the cheapest of these three options – over $10 million.

Yes, I believe repair of the existing pools should be a prerequisite to building anything new. They act as though they just intend to abandon the old pools, they have not come forward with any plan for repair, instead spending “between $30,000 and $60,000” on design proposals for the new center.

Frankly, I think the first priority is funding their salaries, pensions and benefits. Their salaries have all gone – automatically raising their benefits and pensions packages – after they eliminated workers and cut others back in hours over the last couple of years, saying they couldn’t afford to pay their Obamacare.

You’re right and it’s all just completely disgusting. They are trough feeders of the worst kind.

I could have said it better Bob, thanks.

The next board meeting is February 19 – this Thursday evening, 7pm. I have another meeting I wanted to attend (garbage districts), but I wish more people would attend CARD meetings. They are well-run, over by 8pm usually. They go fast because nobody shows up to discuss or ask any questions about anything, unfortunately. Here’s the agenda link:

These agendas don’t include reports, so you have to attend the meeting to find out what’s going on. But, like I say, it’s pretty quick. At this next meeting they will be discussing, coincidentally, renewing the assessment districts for Amber Grove, Oak Way, and other neighborhood parks. I’m guessing the neighbors were poorly noticed and most of them have no idea what’s about to happen and nobody will show up.

Exactly. It’s insane to even be considering building this when the city faces a huge problem with current funding and the tens of millions of unfunded liabilities. The reality is they can’t even afford to keep what the have in decent condition. It is just insanity.

A decent city council would put the kibosh on this pronto as well as that idiotic bag ban.

But this new city council will prove to be every bit as bad as the old one.

Mark my word they will give the store away to the public employee unions and other special interests. Full speed ahead to insolvency!

They don’t give a d@mn what’s right and what’s best for their constituents. Hell, old Renault doesn’t even bother responding to emails. Too busy with boys in blue it would seem.
